Chan<\/a> (Professor of Management and Organization at Boston College), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/questrom\/profile\/michel-anteby\/\">Michel Anteby<\/a> (Professor of Management and Organizations, Sociology at Boston University) wrote an article for the <a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2024\/02\/why-calling-your-workers-heroes-can-backfire\"><em>Harvard Business Review<\/em><\/a> on how gig workers respond to employers labeling them as \u201cheroes.\u201d They interviewed Instacart workers in 2020, after the company launched a \u201cHousehold Heroes\u201d marketing campaign. While some workers \u201creadily embraced the hero label and viewed their work as resoundingly worthy,\u201d others rejected the label and viewed the label as exploitative and manipulative.
