Amid arguments that religious decline will lead to a decline in community engagement and well-being, \u201catheist churches are an example of how nonreligious Americans are finding new ways to meet href=\"https:\/\/whiting.me\/\">Mark Whiting<\/a> (Senior Computational Social Scientist at the University of Pennsylvania) and <a href=\"https:\/\/duncanjwatts.com\/\">Duncan Watts<\/a> (Professor and Computational Social Scientist at the University of Pennsylvania) that examines how \u201ccommon sense\u201d may not be so common. \u201cPeople didn&#8217;t seem to have predictably consistent ideas of what is common sense,\u201d Whiting said, \u201cThe number of items that a larger group all agree on is vanishingly small\u2026so as a consequence, common sense is not all that sanitization of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.\u2019s legacy. \u201cThe danger of a sanitized reading of the past is that this selective memory evades social reality and enables the maintenance of White href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/opinion\/story\/2024-01-09\/science-jobs-technology-stem-majors\"><em>Los Angeles Times<\/em><\/a> on how a shortage of STEM workers persists despite investment in STEM education.
