Interestingly, the only two minorities that Trump has chosen are more educated than their white counterparts. This a classic example of minorities in America being expected to have more qualifications than whites, as explained by economist <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newschool.edu\/public-engagement\/faculty-list\/?id=4d6a-4579-4e44-6b32\">Darrick Hamilton<\/a>, who<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> says, <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cRarely will we find an example of an uncredentialed black person in an elite position &#8230; That black person is usually certainly qualified, if not overqualified, with regard to their education.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, education alone is not sufficient. Duke professor of public policy,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sanford.duke.edu\/people\/faculty\/darity-jr-william\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">William Darity<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, explains that education cannot close the huge\u00a0wealth or unemployment gap between blacks and whites. Thus, according to sociologist <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tressiemc.com\/about\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tressie McMillan Cottom<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cAfrican Americans have to be overeducated to be underemployed.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the election, Trump fared well among people without a college education. In fact, Obama\u2019s administration was criticized by conservatives for being full of people with advanced degrees from elite universities, illustrating a negative shift in how people perceive those who are highly educated. \u00a0The fact that Trump\u2019s cabinet is one of the least educated is not surprising considering campaign rhetoric and American political attitudes. Cottom continues,<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAs higher education has become more accessible to more diverse groups of people, the general population has become more distrustful of education and expertise.
