A particularly juicy conclusion was that interview respondents didn\u2019t realize their party quirks were actually \u2018traditions\u2019 happening year after year at gatherings\u00a0across the U.S. According to\u00a0<a style=\"color: #1155cc;\" href=\"http:\/\/theweek.com\/article\/index\/271899\/7-overlooked-thanksgiving-rituals-according-to-sociologists\" target=\"_blank\">the article<\/a>:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote style=\"color: #222222;\"><p>\u2026a society is not always the best judge of its own customs\u2026The data analysis revealed some common events in the fieldnotes that people rarely remarked on in the interviews.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div style=\"color: #222222;\">Common practices included \u201cThe Giving of The Job Advice,\u201d \u201cThe Telling of Disaster Stories of Thanksgivings Past,\u201d and the ever-popular &#8220;After-Dinner Stroll around the Neighborhood.&#8221; These customs remind us just how much we share at this time of year.
