{"id":4528,"date":"2013-11-18T09:00:23","date_gmt":"2013-11-18T14:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/citings\/?p=4528"},"modified":"2015-10-13T13:39:45","modified_gmt":"2015-10-13T18:39:45","slug":"angry-white-men-and-aggrieved-entitlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesocietypages.org\/clippings\/2013\/11\/18\/angry-white-men-and-aggrieved-entitlement\/","title":{"rendered":"Angry White Men and Aggrieved Entitlement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his controversial raids on and detentions of immigrants to Rush Limbaugh and his rhetoric about \u201cfeminazis,\u201d some white men, those\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.stonybrook.edu\/commcms\/sociology\/people\/faculty\/kimmel.html\">sociologist Michael Kimmel<\/a> terms \u201cangry white men,\u201d are resisting perceived challenges against their masculinity and historical experiences of privilege.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Angry-White-Men-American-Masculinity\/dp\/1568586965\">his new book <i>Angry White Men<\/i><\/a>, Kimmel has interviewed white men across the country to gauge their feelings about their socioeconomic status in a sluggish and globalizing economy as well as the legal and social advances made by women, people of color, GLBT individuals, and others.
