I am in no way defending Pat Robertson. However, in the interest of more accurate journalism, I would like to point out that while he clearly believes that wives should be subordinate to their husbands, we can’t take a statement like “He should become a Muslim and beat her” as literal advice given by an evangelical Christian. Just as we know that he doesn’t want the man to actually become a Muslim and move to Saudi Arabia, we know that he doesn’t think a man should beat his wife into submission. He was making a dig at Islam, saying, “This is what Muslims do.”

Everyone in this thread is trying way too hard to make excuses for him. Chris Brown is definitely guilty of domestic terrorism and he definitely sets women up to look like fucktoys every time he makes a music video.

That’s a very good point Mimimur. There’s no reason for such a poorly drawn tattoo when he could have afforded a much better artist.

I think he wanted plausible denial when people noticed it looked like someone with a black eye.

Thank you very much Peter. I’ve noticed that same type of leniency when it comes to Black people doing stupid shit, but I suspect that it derives from “white chivalry” or a “benign racism” — white people are assuming that Black folks are on average less capable than whites, and so white people end up making excuses for a behavior which they wouldn’t excuse if a white person did that behavior.

1. Being chopped to death in your own home would be an example. Others would be not being allowed certain things because of your whiteness, such as buying shares in companies or whatever.

2. My comment is true. Do not compare tragedies. Just because one tragedy is bad, you cannot use it to minimise another. Such as, “oh yeah, Native Americans had it hard, but their suffering is nothing compared to the people of Rapa Nui”. No one would say that. You can’t compare stuff like that. Stop feeling flabbergasted.

3. It shouldn’t be the case with ANY politician. I don’t care who they are, they should not condone the MURDER of people living in their country. WTF, dude? “Oh, don’t worry man, only SOME of the politicians want them murdered”.

4. When white South African / Zimbabwean farmers are the most killed people in the world who aren’t living in a warzone… it kinda makes you wonder. Just read some of the stuff that happens there.

5. The US post-segregation? When blacks are still face racism everyday, and it took more than a decade after South Africa to get the first black president. Nice.

Yes, many white South Africans have money, but others have little or none. And the ones that emigrate, out of fear for their lives lose most of their money as well. Yeah, there is black on black crime, the reason it is higher is because there are around 45million blacks and about 4 million whites, so yeah, higher numbers. However, the black on white crime is hate crime. Why would you go into an old couple’s house, chop off his hands with a machete, and decapitate his wife, and not take anything? (True story, bro). Why would you drown a 12 year old boy in a bathtub of boiling water, if it wasn’t a hate crime? Why would you murder a woman by shoving a sharpened broom stick up her vagina and through her throat, if it wasn’t a hate crime? Violence will continue, and it is the fault of the previous state, all I was mentioning is, yeah whites can be a racial minority, even if there is only one example in the entire world.
