In any case, I think it is a myth that college sports bring money to universities - in 2009-2010 of 120 D1 football programs  median net surplus of the 22 moneymaking athletic departments was 
roughly $7.4 million, while the median net deficit for the other 98 FBS 
schools was $11.3 million. Most of those programs LOST money.
