Ocean-side cities are, reportedly, hosting “bikini parades.” They are as described. Bikini-clad women, walking down the beach, in a line. The aim is to promote tourism.
I will just say this plainly: When women’s bodies are transformed from attractive to an attraction, we are seeing sexual objectification. They are saying: “We have sexy ladies.” I use the possessive on purpose. Their audience is (presumably heterosexual) men who are being promised that the city will deliver sexy ladies to them if they travel there.
Why women participate in these things, I don’t know. Well, actually, I have an idea.
