my brother’s wife worked full time while attending law school full time and it was really fucking hard.  it’s not something people should have to do.  if people aren’t learning in school things for their future jobs, what are they in school for?

And I imagine that the fact that half of them are being “raised” by daycare, or their grandma because their mom can’t hold a job because of her drug problem and their father left five years ago has nothing to do with it.  

I’m not sure what you mean about “raised by daycare.” Normally I hear that phrased used as an attack on working mothers, telling them they should stay home instead of “abandoning their children.” I assume that’s not what you mean, but it’s so prevalent in that context that I’m not quite sure how else to take it.

And I hope you’re saying it’s the mother with a drug problem that’s the issue and not the fact that they’re being raised by their grandma. I fail to see how being raised by one’s grandparent(s) is in any way a problem or in any way likely to hinder their academic performance. Lots of kids are raised by their grandparent(s), for various reasons.
