That makes me think of how black people are often portrayed as more masculine than other races, men and women alike — perhaps this is related to that idea, with the competent/masculine/athletic black woman handling a water bottle just as well as the stock image men do, while the adorably incompetent/feminine/athletic-but-in-a-yoga-and-skinniness-way white women fumble their water cheerfully and non-threateningly all over their faces.

Ha! In theory, yes…but I feel like if I actually just poured water directly at my chin, more liquid would go in than using a porron. =)
