The faces themselves originated on 4chan, but they are generaly used 1 at a time in the standardized templates they first appeared in. The practice of mashing together a bunch of unrelated faces drawn in completely different styles into a single comic just for the sake of using meme faces is characteristic of reddit, memebase, and similar communities.

Seems not from the update. These tropes have no one source, and often are of unknown authorship, repurposing images and concepts have been parts of internet humour as long it has been possible. Sites like Memebase facilitate this, but ultimately commodify it too.

Not even remotely The Oatmeal’s style of art (could see him doing the same type of comic). It was probably made on a generator by an effectively anonymous user.
