Racism in Germany and racism in America are two totally different topics. We are talking about a country that thinks that no matter what happens they are number one. Then there are American views that says we are a “Melting Pot” and there are different types of races all around. I’m not trying to say that America is perfect and there is no racism. There is just the point that all of the Nazi Germans in the world think that they are the best. So these posters to them are what they see jews as, but to us jews (depending who they are) maybe perfect.

Umm… Jews had so little to do with ANY domestic/political problems of that time in Western states. You make it sound as if antisemitism is a German thing and as if it either didn’t exist anywhere else or in those other places there was a ‘good’ reason for it (?!).

What boggles my mind is that Jews had little to do with the German’s domestic/political problems- at least from my perspective. =/ Jews became a convenient scapegoat (along with other minority/marginalized groups)

Weirdness, about the Bryn Mawr thing. I know that the college had a dedicated kosher dining hall at one point a while ago (located in one of the dorms, and maybe not so coincidentally, in the dorm furthest from the rest of campus?) but other than that I don’t know anything about Bryn Mawr re. Jewish relations.

And yeah, that seems like a pretty typical anti-Semitic depiction of Jews in those posters, at least for the 20th century. College interviews were created by either Harvard or Yale purely as an attempt to visually identify “covert” Jews with Anglo last names.

By the way, anti-Semitism wasn’t a major force in the US until the economic crash of the 1890s, for which “international Jewry” was blamed.

It refers to ‘the wandering jew’, which is a European folk-lorish figure. A jew who taunted Jesus on the cross and therefore has to walk the earth in eternity – or until the final judgement, anyway.

It’s about the jews being the ‘condemmed’ race and beyond salvation – the film itself, with all its blunt propaganda, had a major impact on the implementation of Die Endlösung.

What does “der ewige Jude” even mean? Does it mean that Jewishness is immutable and static?

Also, that faux-Hebrew script makes me think of the “oriental” fonts one might find in an American restaurant. Not a good look.

As a student of the German language, I have to vouch for the translations above- they are accurate.
