Jesus taught radical views on marriage for the time period! He spoke against the extremely slanted male/ female roles in marriage by saying that a husband should actually *gasp* LOVE his wife (enough to give his life for her), and that a wife should respect her husband. What is so wrong with that? Nowhere does is say anything about slavery!

It's not a "hidden agenda" so much as it is just buying into typical stereotypes. It's lazy. With the exception of the girl playing with the robot and in an active (rather than passive) pose, it's chockful of stereotypes. I'm white, and I notice the preponderance of ads with my skin color; don't you? That doesn't make it racist, but it sure gets old to see only blond girls in pink in toy ads.

Anytime there are white people in an ad does that mean they are being racist? Also if the girl was blurred in the background it may be argued that the girl is not seen as a person by blurring her. Not everything has a hidden social agenda behind it

By the age of four my sister was organizing commandos with the Barbies her uncles and aunts kept dropping on her when they weren't accumulating dust deep under her bed, her favorite toy was always the blackboard she'd found at 5 in a dumpster and the chalk we gave her to complete it, and she plays CoD since she's 9. Mom taught her to be strong, and atm she does Karate and asked her big sis to teach her how to do heads in soccer.

That's the whole idea of this blog! Expressing entitlement by nitpicking, bitching (aka public criticism) and blowing things out of proportion (using your imagination)!

Did you see that new commercial? Not only is the woman white and wearing a dress, she's breastfeeding! Oh the humanity!

I don't think that is a compelling argument that it is innate, though. It seems likely that your daughter interacts with people other than you and your wife, and the way society talks to her (e.g. "What's your favorite color, sweetie? Is it pink? I like pink, too. It's pretty.") will influence her opinions and tastes. If she knows what a pony and a kitty and a princess are, she's likely also received information, subtle though it may be, about whether they are desirable and appropriate objects for play or not.
