As with some of the others above, while I think many people might interpret it as a man and woman post-coitus bribed with a ring, it can be read as a gay or lesbian couple, and can be read as sharing a marital bed rather than necessarily just after sex. But if sex, is it that the ring gets you sex, or sex gets you the ring?

Also, I’m not sure that the feet really are different sizes, or that they’re even of two different people’s feet; they might have used the same model for both, it’s hard to tell for sure. The pair on the left appear not to be standing straight up like the ones on the right, but pointing forward, which makes them look smaller.

I just looked again at that article, and it’s for a particular village in northern india. So the standard deviation might well be larger for the kingston ontario, making classification less than 85% accurate.

Um. Because the average size for men’s feet is larger than for women’s? For men the average is 26.3cm long with a standard deviation of 1.5cm and for women the average is 23.7 with a standard deviation of 1.1, which means, roughly, 85% of men have larger feet than 85% of women. Or alternately, if you assume that the person with large feet out of a male-female pair is male you’ll be right 85% of the time.

Oh! I’m in Philly too! “I hate stephen singer!”

Last year the protagonist “hated stephen singer” because his friend got engaged, and so his girlfriend expected a ring as well. It took so many listens (to the radio commercial) to even understand what the heck was going on. Once I got it, I thought, “Wow, yeah, because as soon as one of my friends gets engaged, the race is ON! Tick tock, biological clock…”

I can’t stand those adverts here. It’s inescapable, especially around the holidays.

I interpreted it as a child lying next to an adult, like “buy our product and you’ll get married and have a kid”. I’m not very sexual, though, so I suppose I’ve misunderstood.
