I think the fact that all the images are of white body parts says as much as what body parts are mentioned in different genres of music.

Just a thought–some names of body parts could be misrepresented. For example, “Head” is a popular choice among all the genres, but could it mean head as in the body part as well as head as in RE: the “act of giving fellatio”? In which case it might be represented in some genres more often than others.

Had they grouped together words meaning the same thing, the picture would be much more revealing and closer to their mission statement. As it is, I doubt it’s entirely coincidental that the most frequently occurring words happen to be the easiest ones to rhyme. “It’s hard to rhyme a / word with vagina.”

Also, I don’t know if “desire” is the best way to explain, for example, why hands appear in Gospel so much. Obviously, they’re signing about clapping – not at all the same reason “titty” (singular?) apparently occurs in metal.

But still, it’s a really fun site. Now where’s that map of product placement in popular songs?

I noticed ass and booty were female but butt was male. It would really be cool if they were representatively referencing the gender that was sung about, but I doubt it.

same with penis, erection, dick, and dong. I think it is important to see which genres use which words the most, but it definitely makes it difficult to compare which genres are referencing which body parts the most. I would like to know both.

I thought about that, but caucasian genitalia can get pretty dark. Bloodflow and all. I’d say the scrotum and penis shots are racially ambiguous at best.

The good news: If you click through to the glossary you’ll see there are a few non-white body parts in there.

The bad news: They appear to be limited to penises and testicles. So, yeah.
