Elisabeth R. sent in the video for Trace Adkins’ song “Marry for Money,” which illustrates the difficulties of marrying an ugly old woman for her money:
It’s an interesting reversal of the usual gender roles we expect in “marrying for money” scenarios (think Anna Nicole Smith and her 80+-year-old husband). It’s exactly the reversal of those roles that is supposed to make it funny. It’s hilarious when guys marry for money, understandable or predictable when women do so.
Also, everybody in the video appears to be White non-Hispanic except the maid and gardener–I think they’re supposed to be Hispanic, as they have noticeably darker skin and hair than anyone else in the video. Sigh.
