Mrs. John Marino. You are married and therefore an extension of your husband. I remember when My Mum used to get letters from the bank like that in the '90s

Personally, yes, this advertisement is weird. I don't think women should feel as though they have to go to extremes to look young. However, this is how products are sold. They are extreme in their advertisements. It is a shame that the media does this, but today, I feel it is even worse. I mean, I have seen worse advertisements for women today, than this. Although youth is geared towards women more frequently, it happens to men, too. While the photograph may be creepy to some, I look at it through an artist's point of view. Perhaps this is what the photographer and company wanted to convey for the product. This advertisement is actually tame compared to what they have today. Women shouldn't be conveyed in the same, old-fashioned sexist ways but sexism is always going to find its way into society.

I grew up with this. I am glad the horror is obvious to you "younger folk" "cause I see many women my age as "mutton dressed like lamb" .I am happy to be mutton.

John Marino = potential incestuous child-rapist, restraining himself from full-blown pedophilia only by acting out his perverted fantasies on his subdued wife? (If it were spelled "Merino" I'd probably make a sheep joke... :p)

But yeah, the day I suspect I'm competing with my very young daughter for my husband's sexual interest is the day he gets knifed about half a billion times.

In addition to what everyone has said above, it's funny that the daughter has a "Little Girl Look", as if she's working at looking like a little girl.

I also have a serious problem with the "Mrs. John Marino" part of the ad. She has no identity outside of her husband? I still see people do this today and it is as annoying now as it was back when this ad appeared.

Even if I could put aside the obvious message that women aren't supposed to age, I can't get past the creepy idea of competing with a) her own daughter and b) a child. Ick.

I know I'm preaching to the choir, but I find it sad that this type of shit still goes on. from shaving every hair on our bodies to "anti-aging" creams to botox--why can't it be socially acceptable to allow women to age?
