Kim D. sent me a link to a series of photos of Rene Russo, which Brian Atwood is using to draw attention to his new collection. He apparently had the images made into a limited-edition exclusive book that only Very Special People will get copies of.
Some of the images reverse the naked-woman/clothed-man pattern we often see:
And there’s this one, where the woman is clearly in the position of power:
But there are also a couple that present another common type of imagery–situations in which it’s not clear whether a woman is enjoying herself or being attacked:
Perhaps in that last one she just poked the second guy in the eye with her sharp gold heels from the earlier photo.
And then we have this:
It reminds me a bit of the season when the women on America’s Next Top Model were all posed to look like they had been murdered. The sexualization of dead women is just creepy.
