I don't think you can blame any one person or group. If you've ever seen one of those stupid reality shows like America's Next Top Model, you've heard Tyra Banks or whoever tell the contestants that they had better suck it up and follow the direction of the photographer if they want to get ahead in the modeling world. Those who can't handle posing with a huge fucking bug on their face are voted off, or asked to leave.

We are bombarded with literally thousands of advertisements every single day that either dehumanize or fragmentalize women, and interestingly enough, it's starting to happen to men too (Ax cologne and shower gel etc..."Ax, Get some hair action" and a swarm of women tackle the man and rough him up sexy style) Then there are those Heineken ads with e female robot who has a Keg for an abdomen but a super nice rack, and the Svedka Vodka ads, also using skinny robot women to sell their booze saying "make your next trophy wife 100% titanium" can anyone list the myriad things wrong with that statement? The Roots said it best with their song "Pussy Galore" ("Promoting everything from the liquor to the nicotine, cell phone antihistamines, chicken wings. You've got to show a little skin to get them listening. For real yo, the world is a sex machine. Every time I look around it's more pussy galore, more pussy galore")

Sexualizing of women is starting at younger and younger ages too, and parents and consumers accept it. Department store like Abercrombie and Fitch market and sell little thongs with pictures of cherries on the front for pre-pubescent girls and Beyonce has a line of high heel shoes for BABIES... because, you know, it's cute. It's really cute to let your 4 year old wear heeled shoes, thus mis-aligning her still growing SPINE. yup. Real cute. Dress up the babies in pretend foam heals so that by the time they can walk they feel like those are the shoes they want to wear. When my daughter wants to play dress up she can walk around the house in my heels, but once we walk out the door she will be dressed and act like a little girl. Not a mini-hooker.

So basically, people are GREEDY and if there is a market for something corporations will produce it and market it to us and put it out there for us to buy. It is OUR JOB as individual citizen's to NOT BUY such garbage. To protest ads like these that turn our stomachs by boycotting those stores. I have not ENTERED an Abercrombie and Fitch since I found out about their little girl lingerie/ their porno catalogue didn't help either. It is also our job to keep our boys and girls innocent as long as possible and educated and to teach them that self-respect is tantamount to protecting your body and treating it as something special, not something to be groped and gaped at. Photographers see that the more shocking the image, the more it sells. And models are just doing as they're told. It all has to do with making money, so we need to stop giving corporations that contribute to this base bullshit our hard earned cash... just because you think this stuff is "cute". Because the result certainly is not cute at all.

Actually, the one with the woman laying on the elephants back, seems fairly artistically done. In fact, after the image above it I found it shockingly not-offensive. Sure its a naked woman, but that one (and only that one) isn't really all that bad, its far tamer than many ads i've seen that DONT have any nudity.

Can't someone sue Pirelli or something? The racism, misogyny and violence in these pictures is overwhelming!

P.S.: I'm the same Juli as before.

It's not necessarily the photographer. A lot of these types of shoots have art directors and the photographers often have little control over what the content is.

I really could not comprehend with what the photographer was trying to portray and accomplish ultimately. May be generate disgust to the core and bad controversy. I believe that Pirelli the company should be blamed rather than the photographer. How could this pass w/o their consent.

Well, Pirelli managed to be both misogynistic, racist AND xenophobic all at once.. that's an..uhhh..achievement..? bravo.

(what sickos)

Good job I saw this the day before I bought tires...Pirelli's name will certainly NOT be on my tires.

The only thing missing to make this even worse than it already is would be to portray kids in the middle of it all. That's the only thing I can think of to make this even worse, because they seem to have put all of the horrifying and disgusting things in there already!
Can't they be... I don't know, sued or something? It's not a good message...
Oh, God, it had been a good while since the last time I had felt so sickened! I cannot put my disgust into words, I just can't, it's one of the worst things I've ever seen!
