What’s interesting is that in the old west, men really liked to get sugary drinks at bars. When men were out for weeks at a time driving cattle and such, they didn’t have a lot of sweet things with them. Drinks were often water or coffee. So when they did get to bars, sugary drinks were welcomed breaks from what they had on the road.

No, they weren’t given a vodka cranberry, they were given a bottle of whiskey and then bled to death due to the blood-thinning effects of alcohol combined with hacksaw surgery.
