The other aspect of dehumanising women with these ads is how they are completely erased as an audience. Most of the products in this are not ones we usually consider specifically for males, yet the female half of the customer base is nowhere in sight.

You sometimes even see this in advertisements that are supposedly aimed at women, like most ads for underwear.

Lens distortion. Probably shot closer up with a wider angle lens. It tends to exaggerate the parts of the image closest to the camera.

How sad and pathetic these are! We are so caught up in selling, yet so lazy about it that we resort to disgusting/ demoralizing kneejerk reactions to do so.

Sea Monkeys are being used to sell sex.

Really?

I also think it's kind of interesting how the sea monkey's legs are the only part of her that looks sexualized. They didn't really make her look particularly like any adult human woman I've ever seen, particularly not the sort you'd usually see in an ad that's trying to use sex. She's got a flat, scaly chest and a round, rosy little belly, and her hair seems to be on upside-down. I guess her face is supposed to be sort of sexy/flirtatious, in a cartoony kind of way, because she's winking and she has big, pink, exaggerated lips, but to me, the torso sort of throws it off because she's shaped like a chubby child.

Agreed.. Objectification of that level is inexcusable no matter what is being promoted. I can't even begin to describe how problematic the text is - basically, 'you wanna f*** this, but if you can't get your d*** in her, you can at least get a kidney in her?'

wtf??.

It's a blantant example of objectification and dehumanization, which is pretty much the opposite of what you want to do in order to promote organ donation. It doesn't make you see this woman as a human who may need help, who may have a family to take care of, children that need a mother and that's why you should donate.. it's almost equating organ donation to some kind of stealthy way to sexually assault someone.

That is some messed up.

What strange world do you live on? These marketers are geniuses, possibly tapping an entire demographic of people who previously would not have considered donating, thus saving tens, hundreds or possibly thousands of lives that would not have been saved otherwise. And the fact that she is hot does not say that our society only values hot people. If it showed a whole line of hot people all in line for organs while a pile of ugly people were being harvested for their organs and discarded in mass graves... then THAT would show that we only value hot people. This is ONE person, not a representational sample of all the people.
