Re Daniel O’Connell – he would not be described as ‘ a leader of the Irish land reform movement’. That came later in the 19th century with Michael Davitt and Parnell. O’Connell’s two great causes were Catholic Emancipation (1829), hence his title of ‘Liberator’, and the repeal of the Union with Britain. O’Connell died in 1848 having failed to achieve the latter. He remains my number one man.

We all have to understand that human beings generally are chronic narcissists, so you will always find individuals trying to make themselves and those who look most like them superior and will use anything to achieve this goal. This can be found in every race or ethnic group, the latter day saints is a perfect example of this they’re basically a group of men and women who are racist christians who because of their racist mindset believe the mark placed upon cain’s skin was darkness which made him a black man. They’re basically using Christian doctrine to justify their own prejudice and maintain their grip superiority. The doctrine of the latter day saints should not be accepted as general Christian doctrine because its main intent is to discriminate, because G-D forgives anyone who sincerely asks for it.

The Christian belief of the flood and all human beings descending from 8 people is not just a biblical theory but a scientific fact. In the Y chromosome in all men it shows that all human being share a group of fathers who were of the same descent which proves the biblical story is not a myth but this information is not brought to the mainstream media. There was also a study on two human beings both of different races one white and the other black and with no possible genetic relationship other the being human, and it was found out that theses two men; based on DNA had less genetic differences than two monkeys of the same mother. It is a sad but true fact that technically all 7+ billion of us are here through inbreeding.

people are racist because they dislike others for the attributes they envy. 1. thomas jefferson. wrote an paper downgrading africans but yet had a whole side family… 2. racism is present at all times but usually rears it ugly head the most when people are looking for a scapegoat to blame social problems on. 3. ethinic cleansing is due to along held idea of superiority which dates back a loooong time. to end this how people interpret the bible, scientific evidence, skewed beliefs systems, and literature is exactly what it is AN INTERPRETATION!!!!. How and why people are able or unable to see past the bullshit is clearly up to their ability to embrace critical thinking and to discern which is someones agenda or actual fact. Back in the day people relied on scholars for knowledge because they were “noble highly regarded people” who for some didnt know shit. that is how stupid ideologies came to the forefront much like today

fact of the matter is that alot of cultures around the globe have had it bad one way or another. It is ridiculous to compare the “plight” of different races because ultimately any one who is oppressed, broke, and under some type of government or monarchy are going to be oppressed in one form or another. i do enjoy the article and must remind commenters of the past that world oppression of cultures should not be a pissing contest. Not only does Ireland have a history of being oppressed by England, Ireland has a history of being oppressed by the Catholic/protestant churches which in turn is upheld by governments of today and of the past.

Not to say that EVOLUTION hasn’t been twisted to support racism, but there’s nothing intrinsically racist about EVOLUTION. The eugenicists and facists of the early 20th century is about as indicative of general evolutionary belief as the Latter Day Saints’ belief that black people were descended from Cain (doctrine until the late 1970′s) is indicative of general Christian theory.

The theory of evolution doesn’t promote racism any more than the theory of relativity. Racists don’t need any “proof,” nor do anti-science fundamentalists (which I use in the literal sense; literal, fundamental belief that the Bible is true.).

This does not mean that the whiteness angle is null and void, rather it highlights how whiteness operates differently in different times and places—it is not a cross-cultural constant, and needs to be considered with intersecting axes of difference. Are you seriously comparing the Theory of Gravity (something which can be empirically tested) with an unfalsifiable, and therefore unscientific, theory? The evolutionists are the ones who have to cherry pick so-called evidence in order to present a case for their sacred myth. And as far as racism goes, the Bible says we all came from 8 people who survived a global flood, so we’re actually all cousins from the same family! Evolution, however, says you’re more or less the descendant of an ape-like ancestor (more in your case), and it therefore promotes racism. Study the racist eugenicists and fascists of the early 20th century. Note that they used Darwinian evolution and not the Bible to support their destructive agendas. The idea of race is foreign to the Bible. That’s not to say the Bible hasn’t been twisted to support racism, but there’s nothing intrinsically racist about the Bible. The same cannot be said about evolution. I agree that race is a social construct not based upon biology; but in order for it to not be based upon biology, evolution must be false.

Evolution isn’t a belief system anymore than gravity is a belief system and if you weren’t cherry-picking and were honest about your scripture then you would see that it’s rife with racism, homophobia and promotes slavery. If you actually knew anything about evolution then you would know that race is social construct and not based on biology. I’m with SonGoku. Shut up, you’re making things worse.

This is what believing in evolution does: it gives people “scientific” reason to be racist. If these people would realize that we all were created equal by God, not descended from an entirely different species, ethnic cleansing and racism would be ended.
