Kelly V. sent in this image (found here). Contrary to what you might think, it’s not part of a campaign to promote literacy or libraries. It’s an ad for Akademiks clothing (a clothing label aimed at the hip-hop community).

There’s the clear sexualization and infantilization of the woman, but possibly more interesting is that the ad was pulled from public transportation after someone pointed out that “get brain” is also used to mean oral sex.

I never, ever, in a million years, would have known that. I am now old.

Anyway, you might add this to some of our other images about the use of sex (more or less explicitly) in advertising. I’ll leave it up to you to decide whether or not the double meaning was intentional.
