Muriel – I think you mean Al Bundy, from Married with Children. Ted Bundy was a serial killer.

I personally am not as offended by these types of characters in fiction, where I usually see them as satirical and not meant to be role models, as I am when I see them in advertisements, where they are clearly meant to be identified with. Although they certainly can go too far in any setting.

I call this type of TV “big, fat, stupid guy.” I never think these types of characters are funny. You know, Ted Bundy, Randy Hicks, Homer Simpson, Peter Griffin, etc.

I don’t like watching men made to look stupid and inept anymore than I like to watch women be made to look stupid and inept. But for some reason these characters are created over and over again.

It’s a shame.
