“MILF” is the acronym for “Mother I’d Like to F&@%.” In a syllable, it sexually objectifes mothers. Here are some images from an interview with Bridget Moynahan in Harper’s Bazaar (found thanks to Jessica C. via The Superficial). Moynahan was left by football player Tom Brady while she was pregnant before they knew she was pregnant (he ended up with supermodel #1 Gisele Bundchen). In these images, just after giving birth, she poses in lingerie in front of a crib, in a sexy red dress in front of a high chair, and walking down the street in impossibly high heels with a baby carriage.
I think this is an interesting example of discursive and cultural change via neologism. Now that the word “MILF” brings the idea of a hot mom more starkly into our collective consciousness, a woman like Moynahan can try to capitalize on it.
