Jenelle sent us this incredibly creepy set of images from a Brazilian anti-pedophilia campaign (the organization is called CERCA) (found here). The first image is the ad with the lights on, the second with the lights off:

I looked around and found two more sets:

I don’t know why the text is in English since they are Brazilian.

One thing about the ads is that they do seem to acknowledge that most sexual abusers are people the child knows. Since these ads show children in their homes, presumably the abusers would be acquaintances, not strangers; it’s a step up from so many abuse awareness ads (as well as anti-rape ads), which still fall back on the idea of the stranger attacker.

Compare them to these disturbing anti-pedophilia ads from Milwaukee.

Thanks, Jenelle!

UPDATE: Tracy pointed out this creepy anti-sexual abuse PSA that features a snake/penis/arm-like thing slithering around a girl:

[CLARIFICATION: This paragraph isn't a criticism of this ad per se, just a general thought I had.] Note that the slimy thing doesn’t leave the woman until she dies. I don’t want to in any way underplay the pain that sexual abuse survivors go through, but I hate the way that we often portray rape or sexual abuse survivors as permanently “broken” or “ruined,” sentenced to a lifetime of having all types of problems and being unable to have fulfilling, mature, health intimate relationships. It robs us of any agency and ignores the amazing achievements we accomplish throughout our lives, implying that instead an entire life is determined by one set of experiences.

And of course, as a commenter pointed out, none of these PSAs acknowledge that women can abuse children too.
