Sounds like an MRA persecution fantasy. In reality, all feminist sites, blogs, speakers and books I've seen point out that patriarchy hurts men too. I think you'll find feminists quite a receptive audience for the tribulations of men in society today. How many feminists list Fight Club as one of their favorite movies, I wonder?

“Dove’s message is not invalidated by Axe’s misogyny any more than it is invalidated by those Bud Light commercials. Don’t punish Dove for being under the Unilever umbrella any more than you’d praise Axe for it. If anything we should be praising Dove’s marketing director for making such a radical perspective mainstream.”

Typical consumerist apologetics, I’m afraid. If someone points out a major problem in society, you can’t wave it away by saying, “hey, that’s just how our economic system works”, because our economic system was put together by a relatively small group of dead people, and living people can build a new one that serves our needs better. Besides, as someone noted earlier in the thread, the Dove ad is only “radical” from the “perspective” of the “mainstream”: their models still conform to roughly the same beauty standards and apparently the making of the ads is something like a dishonest softcore porn shoot. There’s nothing revolutionary here, except the implication of what we should do to Unilever and other megacorporations that set the agenda while teaching us how they want us to view our bodies and those of others.

Being addressed as such, and behaving that way is nowhere near as damaging to their status as individuals as the generalizations shoved at women, I'm sad to say. Plus, when you're part of a group that wields the most power, as the white men to whom products like Axe are marketed, such generalizations are easy to dismiss as jokes and can quite easily be ignored when it comes right down to it.

I would in no way defend all the destruction that is done to the earth, but attacking one company that uses Palm Oil, out of hundreds that do, seems a little misguided. How about attacking the industry?
